Justa Mwangi is a postdoctoral researcher, specialising in gender and corruption. She holds a PhD in Public Policy and Management, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Stirling, UK.
Justa is a UNODC GRACE Scholar, a prestigious title awarded at ICRN Forum 2024 by the Global Resource for Anticorruption Education and Youth Empowerment GRACE, which seeks to counter corruption by promoting a culture of integrity around the world and empowering the next generation to become ethical leaders of tomorrow (https://grace.unodc.org/).
She has over 30 years of extensive experience in strategic planning for governments, multinational companies and non-profits, and has worked in senior management
positions globally. She worked for the Wellcome Trust (UK) and for multinational companies Del Monte Foods International and SAB Miller Plc, and recently served as a Cabinet Minister with the
County Government of Embu.
Justa is interested in contributing to the broader efforts towards gender equality and gender justice through her research, which is at the intersection of
gender, public policy and corruption. She seeks to advance our understanding of the gendered impacts of systemic
corruption, especially in contexts where rule of law challenges is prevalent.
She is interested in the gender intricacies around policy instruments, bureaucracies and organizational
cultures in sectoral areas that are prone to corruption, such as social services, health, education, and
the environment. Her research interests further extend across the interplay of information technology, big
data, and artificial intelligence within the gender-corruption nexus.
Justa has published her work in international referred journals and has also presented in various international conferences.
Justa joined ICRN Barcelona Forum as a participant in 2023 and has been involved in ICRN organization team for the 8th Interdisciplinary Corruption Research Forum in Lisboa, Portugal (2024).
